I am considering purchaing a PLS5 System, I need to understand the fuction of the receiver.

Thanks,

The receiver for the New PLS 5 System is the HVD detector. The function of the detector is to use the laser in the outdoors. It is an electronic device which is able to detect where the point is in bright sunlight. Without this device, it will be hard to pin-point where the beam is unless you are working in a shaded area.

I just purchased the PLS 360 and want to get a sturdy tripod - tall enough to put the laser near the top of an average wall to mark off for a drop ceiling L channel. Does PLS make one to go with this laser?

I ave a PLSE2E that i knoked off the wall a dropped about one foot. It seem that the gyro is not working. If I tap it it flashes for an instant. If it is placed in the crosshair mode that works out of level it will work. Can this be returned to the factory for repair?

Can I use my HVR 505R to layout the 90 deg corners of a slab? If so, How?

Back in 1996 I used and reviewed a number of construction lasers for Fine Homebuilding magazine. The article appeared in 1997.

The PLS 5 came up as my personal favorite for the kind of work I do, and I acquired one. Back then Mike Tramenton was the marketing director for Pacific Laser Systems. Now he is the president. When I called him two years ago and told him a plumber had ruined my PLS 5 by flooding a job site, Mike sent me another one without a blink.

I am forever grateful, and my PLS 5 is still a prized tool, as I split my time between construction and dispute resolution efforts.

Many thanks.
